Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation Review
A new Nars Foundation -- I know it's a rare sighting. Nars have recently released their latest foundation which claims to be "full, natural-looking coverage with unexpectedly weightless, 16 hour wear" on their website. I brought mine in the colour 'Siberia-Light 1' which is an ok match for my skin and matches my neck but it is very yellow toned, on other people it could make you look quite ill... maybe not the best look?
First things first you NEED to give it a good shake -- if you don't it comes out separated. Also, Nars finally decided to give a foundation a pump and a good one at that, you can easily control the amount that comes out so you never end up wasting any of the quite expensive foundation which comes with the hefty price tag of £32.
How many pumps will I need to use?
I find that one pump covers the whole face very nicely but you probably could layer it and use more than one pump but you really don't need to.
What is the finish like and how does it feel on the skin?
Its quite a a satin finish but it does add dimension to the face and does add radiance to the skin. It also doesn't have that tacky feel that some foundations have and sets really well. Like the name it is very lightweight as well and doesn't feel very heavy on the skin at all.
Does it settle into pores and fine lines?
Unfortunately, yes. This is my main problem with the foundation because I have small pores but it still manages to settle in them. I think if you use a primer it will be fine but if you have large pore this might not be the best foundation.
What brush should I use to apply it?
When I brought it in store for Liberty's the lady applied it with her fingers and that looked really even and blended so if you don't have many makeup brushes then this is a good method. I personally find using a flat top kabuki ( like the Sigma F80 ) the best method because it reduces the amount it settles into pores and fine lines and give a great coverage.
Are there any drugstore dupes of it?
I think if you're not willing to pay the big price tag the 'L'oréal L'eau de Teint' is a great alternative but just use a radiant primer underneath like the 'L'oreal Lumi Magique Primer' and you will have a very similar finish.
What is the coverage like?
It's is a quite heavy coverage but like i said earlier it doesn't feel like it.
What is the longevity like?
It last very well on the skin and doesn't get patchy either but i suggest setting it in the T-zone because it does get shiny later on in the day.
Any other difficulties?
It clings to dry skin so i do have to moisturise the night before quite heavily if i want it to look flawless when i wear it.
Overall I am not sure whether i would repurchase it but i will definitely use it.
